I made this as a retirement gift for my husband when he finished his career as managing director of Union Development with the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), Canada's largest union. He adopted the adage, “What you pay attention to grows” and expanded the union’s education program, focusing on members and local leadership; as opposed to the trend in Canada where education suffers cutbacks and increasing fees.
He was born in the Chinese Year of the Horse (in the clouds), I was born in the Year of the Dog, the wheat sprigs are from his family Saskatchewan farm, the initials list family members, favourite number is 5, bluejays and cardinals from our backyard, hearts, etc.!
